For the second year in a row, J2K, owned by Danny Jenkins
and Randy Johnston of Charlottetown, has walked,,, rather sailed away with top
honours at the annual
Summerside Yacht Club
Spring Thaw Regatta.
In so doing, they netted themselves a
winners purse of $1185.00 for 1st place overall and got their name placed, yet
again, on the coveted trophy (click on the picture to get a better look).
Second place was filled by PEPPER, owned by
John Rankin of Charlottetown, netting him the tidy sum of $660.00 in prize
money.
Third place went to J Makin' Rhumb, owned by
Rob Rodgers of Shediac, N.B., with a purse of $345.00.
Finishing in 4th place and out of the top
prizes was SIREN III (Mickey Cormier, Shediac, N.B.) the overall winner of the
first event in 2001.
Prize money was paid out to the 1st, 2nd &
3rd place boats in A, B, C & D classes for each race with PICTURE PERFECT (Ellen
MacPhail, Charlottetown) Picking up $300.00 for her overall finishes in C Class
in each race.
Other boats that sailed away in the prizes
were: MUFFIN (B Class - Brian Storey, Shediac), DOUBLE EXPOSURE (A Class -
Alain Boily, Summerside), MYAH (A Class - Greg Bowles/Evan Sullivan,
Summerside), SUNRISE (B Class - Don Vickerson, Summerside), FIESTA DECK (C Class
- Steve Cudmore, Summerside), Footloose (C Class - Joe Gillis, Summerside),
TRINITY (D Class - skippered by Lloyd MacCarthy, Summerside) and ENIGMA (D Class
- Ed Ratelle, Summerside).
